These Hosa MIDI cables contain five 26AWG oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors that are discretely wired to the all-metal pins – pin 5 on one connector is wired to pin 5 on the other, pin 4 to pin 4, and so forth. The conductors are surrounded by a 67-percent OFC spiral shield with 100 percent coverage, encircled by a layer of polyethylene insulation and encased in a durable black polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket. These male-to-male cables are available with either three or five pins, which are identical in terms of features and materials, apart from the number of pins.

Opinions on the durability and quality of Hosa MIDI cables vary between the musicians who use them.
